Biography

I recognize that racism affects everyone, especially those who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). I am committed to lifelong learning about white privilege, injustices towards BIPOC, and my own implicit biases. I seek to address inequities, confront racism, and promote the voices of people who are frequently silenced

As one way of living this commitment I am accepting a free-will offering from BIPOC for 30-minute coaching sessions. Availability subject to scheduling restraints.

I have had the pleasure of helping people make positive changes through therapy or coaching for over 35 years. Clients have included freelance artists, people in transition, people who feel"stuck", CEO and other senior level personnel. I've facilitated workshops at the Michael Phelps Swim Center, Berklee College of Music, and Tufts University Swimming and Diving.

I have many years experience supervising professionals, facilitating groups, presenting workshops, and providing coaching and technical assistance. As a staff member in a non-profit I currently provide these services to staff in residential programs for Substance Use Disorder recovery.

We do not stray into therapy while coaching. I do use techniques that I have learned as a therapist when  it appears that they may enhance and accelerate the coaching process. See my website for details:

Relaxation techniques

Self-administered acupressure

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I am a performing musician and a former competitive athlete. While my specialty is helping people reach their creative and athletic goals, I have helped people navigate life changes of all kinds, including in career and relationships.

When I am not working you'll find me doing my part for social justice, sailing, windsurfing (enthusiastically, though not proficiently-yet), swimming, cross-country skiing, playing piano in a Latin music band, or singing.
