ICF New York City Chapter Event

Join ICF NYC and NYU’s MS Program in Executive Coaching and Organizational Consulting virtually for our Sixth Annual Coaching Event as we both step back and zoom in on how our industry is rapidly evolving.

The Premise:

The last few years (and months!) have seen arguably underappreciated technological advances, shifts and disruptions within the coaching industry. From the rise of coaching platforms in the last few years, which promised coaching for everyone, but also brought concerns around competition, commodification and coaching quality to the more recent developments within the generative AI field, there is a lot to unpack and explore as far as what has been evolving at both the industry and individual scales and where we might be heading.

Importantly, for individual coaches, and for the profession as a whole, how are we thinking about, preparing for, and rallying around the driving forces at play and working to ensure our individual and collective success?

Join ICF NYC and NYU's MS Program in Executive Coaching and Organizational Consulting for an evening of dialogue and networking as we dig into this rich and evolving space.

About the Program:

NYU's Dr. Michael "Woody" Woodward and Dr. Anna Tavis have spent the last two years researching Digital Coaching Revolutions and speaking with corporations, technologists, coaches and other key stakeholders to shed light on the current state of play. Dr. Woodward also shares a vantage point as a Board Member for ICF's Thought Leadership Institute, where he is working as part of the industry body to advance conversations around the technology and coaching interface.

Using their research findings as the basis for the evening's conversation, in addition to shared learning and experience contributed by our coaching community, we will explore:
  • How is the digital age transforming the Learning & Development space?
  • Who is driving the evolution and where does the influence sit?
  • How is coaching being defined and what expectations are being set within the marketplace?
  • What are the ethical concerns (potential for bias, coaching standards) and how are they (or not) being addressed?
  • Where does ICF stand in what's unfolding and the bigger conversation taking place?
  • What opportunities exist for coaches to harness the trends, differentiate themselves and ensure financial viability?
  • How is the digital transformation influencing the demand for different coaching specialties or niches?
  • What are the strategies for maintaining human connection in digital coaching relationships?
  • How is the digital shift affecting education and ongoing professional development of coaches?
  • What role do data analytics and feedback mechanisms play in empowering coaching in the digital age?
  • How can coaches leverage digital platforms for community building and networking within the coaching field?
